Proper shots are here from Animania mini 2012~! Number 2 from "Sprinter" series of action shots with ~pireze (a.k.a. god) Vaan - Sprinter series This time I decided to play with the location a little, did a bit of climbing and dangling to get this infiltration-running-a-covert-mission-doing-something-illegal kind of thing going on. Hence the title Sprinter, actually (apart from the fact that I was listening to Kalafina's "Sprinter" while posting these up...) I'm quite fond of this shot. I feel like... Angelina Jolie here. See the whole lips thing I didn't even know I was doing... heh heh... Vaangelina Jolie...*gets bricked*

Costume production notes:
First things first... before anyone starts asking if I SHAVE MY ARMPITS like they did when I posted up my Luffy photo... NO i do not shave them regularly, but YES I shaved them for this character.
Also, I had been keeping up with my 4 times per week gym visits since the Vaan photo from last year. I hope the progress is showing .
Now let's actually talk about the costume. Vaan was made in 4 working days I want to kill myself for rushing it, there are many MANY details missing which I will finish at a later time, but he turned out so nice that it's almost unfair.
His jacket and pants are all sewn from black pleather. The silver trimmings were originally black pleather as well. I dried brush them with good acrylic silver paint to get the silver armour-like trims. It made a good effect and looks like real leather. All armour details on his jacket are made from EVA rubber skins, sealed with contact adhesive then hand painted.
All other armour (gauntlets, knee pads, leg armour) are a combination of hard PVC plastic and yoga mat foam, shaped by applying heat, assembled with contact adhesive, then sealed with PVA glue, then painted by hand with acrylic paints.
I'm pretty proud to say that I only spent $15 making this costume, and that was used to buy the aqua patch of fabric and red rope on the side of his pants. The rest of the costume was born entirely from scrap materials under my bed...it is slightly frightening.
FFXII is arguably my favorite Final Fantasy, and your Vaan is simply fantastic! Reading your comment on how there are seemingly many details missing is the true mark of an artist/craftsman, as in my opinion, no work of my own is every complete. Also, thank you for taking the time to mention your creation process, and the materials that you used. I'm beginning work on a Judge Bergan suit of armor, and am gathering inspiration from any and all high quality FFXII cosplay projects that i can find. Again, GREAT work!
You know.. I have never seen such a perfect cosplay on Vaan before. When I see a cosplay on Final Fantasy, I always find mistakes. But this.. it's Vaan. It's really he *^*
