Kingdom Hearts II, Sora cosplay~

Costume + prop making, model and post processing by :iconamenokitarou:
Photo taken by :icontsubaki-chan:

Perth Sora backlog killing in progress.

This is the Power of the Sky shot! lol~ :iconohjoyplz:
Finally I have a shot with my keyblades 8D
The shot idea was originally inspired somehow by Studio Ghibli anime...but I forgot what it was...

During this shot, I originally had the keyblades crossed in front of my body, but *Tsubaki-chan suggested I raise them over my head. God did it look so much better. <333
Perth winds was still brutal to my poor wig TT____TT

This shoot was done at South Fremantle Beach in Perth, Australia.
This has to be one of the most fun I had at a shoot. It was really refreshing to me in such a comfortable costume shooting at a beautiful cool beach.
The costume got so wet at the end of the shoot, and every time i walked out of the water the pants would be like water bombs and dead heavy because my pants has air pockets in them to let them puff up when I move.

Lots of thanks to :icontsubaki-chan: and Mirai also for photographing on the day
And thanks to my lovely twinpants for being the epic smexy Tidus that she was on the day <333

About the costume:
Costume: Completed in 3 days. Nothing really special went on the the sewing of the costume.
Interesting bits include: The giant zipper was actually made from EVA skin sheets, for the EXTRA GINORMOUS teeth. Shoulder pads are made from silver vinyl.
The balloon pants are lined with heavy fabric to give it some mass. I left gaps in the lining to allow airflow, so the pants actually inflate like a balloon when I bend my legs which is pretty cute

Necklace and Buckles: all modeled from Sculpy oven dry clay.

Gloves:Nothing too special. I bought a pair of gloves and stuck belts and pads onto them. Completed in 30 minutes.

Shoes: These are my pride and joy. I got a pair of rubber beach shoes, taped a massive amount of Hobby Fill to the front then covered the shoe with stretch material for the big round look. Zippers and belts were then attached one after another. Completed in 3 hours.

Wig: styled from a punky wig. nothing too special. A can of hairspray and a tube of got2be hair gel and a blow dryer. Completed in 5 hours. Destroyed by the wind at the beaches of Perth in 2 seconds. DX

Keyblades:

Oathkeeper:The base was first cut out from a single sheet of 12mm MDF wood.
Then a router was used on all appropriate edges for the first contours.
Further details and contours were then built on with DAS modelling clay, and sanded smooth once dry.

The paupu fruit is a hand sewn plushy. The leave that's attached to it is a real leaf that I picked from my garden.

The paint job was done with several enamel spray paints.
I chose a metallic blue for the center of the colourful detail of the keyblade to give it a much more elegant shine instead of the rather kindergarten colours that dark blue gives off when applied next to yellow.
The wings were done with a gradient of dusk gray and beige to enhance the smoothness of the feathers.

I don't own an airbrush, so all the gradient effects were done by extremely careful spraying with the spray can that the paints came in.

Completed in about 14 days on and off over the course of a whole year.

Oblivion:The base of the keyblade is cut out from a sheet of 12mm ply wood.
A power router is then run through it to give it some contours.
Then all details were molded on top with DAS air dry clay.
The chain that runs down the middle of the keyblade is hand made out of oven dry clay.

Metallic Grey mixed with Black was used for the base colour to give it realistic colour and weapon-like shine.
The center gem is coloured with silver with a layer of clear blue on top.
Completed in 14 days, on and off over the course of a year.

Hope you like it ^^ :iconhohoplz:

Absolutely amazing. At first I thought the cosplay was shop-brought, but when I scrolled down and saw you made everything was scratch, I was completely astounded! You should be very proud of yourself and this cosplay! =D
