Cloud Strife's "First Tsurugi" from Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children~!!!

Weapon making and photography by :iconamenokitarou:

This is the first of 2 shots for this weapon. :)
The 2nd shot will show the weapon separated into all 6 blades and how each one works.

Now alot of people call this thingo the Buster Sword...it's called First Tsurugi. :)

The sword is built entirely of Foam core boards, with a wooden core in the centre sword to support everything else. The sword can be disassembled into the 6 separate blades.

The centre sword, can open and close in and out of the battle mode. These are done by making wooden pegs inside the centre blade.

Everything is pretty simple about the making of this weapon since it was quite the rush job. Most techniques utilized can be found performed at most primary school art classes. (Eg. cutting foam boards, gluing shapes together to make a 3D shape...etc.)

Enjoy~

Hey, can I ask for some pointers/tips on something ^_^;

I am trying to do what you have done here, making all 6 of the swords that can combine into the final sword (Sorry I don't know the names of the swords). I have 5 of the swords done, the hollow sword is not finished and asking a few questions. One being how would one go about making the hollow sword. Also, what colors would you use (obviously what is in the photo) but I mean the application of it. I'm using Styrofoam panels that I am layering to encase the PVC pipe cores. Any suggestions? (Also, I have photos of the project inside my gallery so that you have an idea what I have made)

when I made the hollow sword, i actually just stuck two piece of foam core boards together at an angle then reinforced it with putty...

As for the painting. if you are using styrofoam then you need to make sure you aren't usually enamel or spray paint.

Go with acrylic paint. As for the application....i guess with a brush? haha!

lol I see and that makes since.

I am planning using two PVC pipes to make the two handles of the sword.

haha okay, but yeah! great job! I could probably do it, I had to make a giant foot(monty python themed school concert) out of cardboard and some poster board, lol it was about 10ft tall and like...idk 19ft long?
